STARKVILLE, Miss.āFor the fourth consecutive year, families of current Mississippi State students are invited to visit campus to learn more about the university experience and Bulldog family.
The Ļć½¶Ö±²„Division of Student Affairsā Office of Parent Services will host the 2016 Bulldog Family Weekend Feb. 26-28.
Registration deadline is Feb. 15, and family members planning to attend are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible at . Cost is $38 for those 12 years old and up and $25 for ages 5-11. Children under the age of 5 are admitted free. Participants will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event.
āBulldog Family Weekend allows you to join your student for a True Maroon family experience at Mississippi State,āĀ saidĀ Cat Walker, director of MSUās Office of Parent Services. āItās an opportunity to find out why your student loves being a part of the Bulldog family while meeting families from all over the country.ā
Along with tickets to the four-game Ļć½¶Ö±²„baseball-series weekend against University of Massachusetts Lowell and Nicholls State University, registration fees cover the cost of the welcome reception with campus administrators at the Leo Seal Jr. Football Complex and refreshments at Left Field Lounge in Polk-Dement Stadium at Dudy Noble Field.
Throughout the weekend, students and parents can participate in an MSU-themed scavenger hunt. In addition to the Office of Parent Services, the event is being held in collaboration with the Office of Student Leadership and Community Engagement and New Maroon Camp.
Also, Bulldog Family Weekend participants may attend the Ļć½¶Ö±²„menās basketball game Saturday [Feb. 27] at 1:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased separately at .
Other scheduled activities include:
--Tours of athletic facilities, including Davis Wade Stadium.
--āThink Fast Game ShowāĀ sponsored by the Center for Student Activities.
-- The Fresh Food Co. breakfast with Ļć½¶Ö±²„President Mark E. Keenum.
Walker said Barnes & Noble at Mississippi State is offering a special Saturday morning [the 27th] Family Weekend shopping hour from 9-10 a.m. She added that her office again is working with the Greater Starkville Development Partnership to provide discounts to visiting families at a variety of other Starkville businesses during the three days.
āThe Ļć½¶Ö±²„Golf Course is offering a discount for nine holes and a cart at a $15 rate, and all families who are registered for Bulldog Family Weekend are welcome to the exercise and recreation facilities available at the Joe Frank Sanderson Center here on campus,ā Walker said.
