Summer Scholars camp at 香蕉直播opens theater world to young creatives in June

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擸oung creatives in grades 7-12 can dive into the world of theater and music this summer at Mississippi State.

The university鈥檚 Summer Scholars 鈥淥n Stage鈥 Writers鈥 and Production Camp is accepting applications for this immersive, artistic experience that now has added a technical theater component.
Deadline to apply is May 20 for the three-week writing, production and technical track running June 8-28, and a two-week production track June 14-28. Entry into technical theater is limited to the first six qualified applicants.
鈥淪ummer Scholars is more than just a theater program鈥攊t鈥檚 a transformative event for students. Through acting, writing and collaboration, they develop confidence, creativity and essential life skills that extend far beyond the stage,鈥 said program director Stephen Cunetto, who recently retired after an almost 40-year career at MSU. 鈥淚t鈥檚 inspiring to see young people find their voices and discover the power of storytelling in such a supportive environment.鈥
At the end of the weeks-long training, participants will have the chance to perform in two live productions in MSU鈥檚聽McComas Auditorium, showcasing the skills and talents they have refined. Campers are housed in residence halls and are supervised by counselors, ensuring a rewarding learning experience at the university.
鈥淚n this supportive environment, it鈥檚 inspiring to see young people find their voices and discover the power of storytelling,鈥 Cunetto said.
