ā€œM±š»å±š²¹,ā€ running Feb. 26 through March 1, 7:30 p.m., and March 2, 2 p.m., is directed by senior Kylie Alyse Dowd of Clinton in her directorial debut. Dowd, a fine arts major, brings a fresh perspective to a bold reimagining of the Greek tragedy.

ā€œ'Medea' is a gripping Greek tragedy by Euripides that delves into themes of love, betrayal and vengeance,ā€ Dowd said. ā€œSet in a timeless and placeless context, the story follows Medea, a woman who has sacrificed her homeland and family for the love of her husband, Jason. When Jason abandons Medea for a younger, wealthier bride, Medeaā€™s world shatters.ā€ Ģż

Closing out the spring semester, ā€œShe Kills Monstersā€ runs April 23 to 26, 7:30 p.m., and April 27, 2 p.m.

Bringing Dungeons and Dragons to life through humor, the play follows Agnes Evans as she embarks on a journey of discovery after finding her late sister Tillyā€™s D&D notebook.

ā€œTheyā€™ll see some awesome puppets, some swords clashing, and some monsters get whatā€™s coming to them,ā€ said Jesse Wade, play director and an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Communication.

Both productions will take place at McComas Hall Theater. Tickets for the public performances in McComas Theater can be purchased at . For additional information, email kad541@msstate.edu or thays@comm.msstate.edu. Seating is limited.

In addition to the upcoming productions, Tonya Hays, assistant professor of theater performance in MSUā€™s Department of Communication, highlighted a major milestone for the program.

Jacob Uithoven, an ACCESS student from Beldin, played a lead role in last semesterā€™s production of Charlotteā€™s Web and recently showcased his talents on a larger stage. He, along with his scene partner Aidan Levyā€”a junior majoring in interdisciplinary studies from Bay St. Louisā€”competed in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region IV competition. Both students earned recognition as Irene Ryan Scholarship nominees, a prestigious honor in collegiate theater.
