STARKVILLE, Miss.ā€”The Ļć½¶Ö±²„Horticulture Club is hosting its annual spring plant sale. Bright and beautiful annuals and perennials cultivated by Mississippi State students will be available for purchase at the Dorman Hall greenhouses over the two-day event Friday, April 5, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and April 6, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Madelyn Gresham, a senior horticulture major from Chicago, is the clubā€™s president. She said annual spring flowers such as petunias, coleus, geraniums and more will be offered at the sale. Perennials also will be available, as well as herbs and vegetables.

Gresham emphasized the extensive effort of the clubā€™s greenhouse managers to prepare for the weekend sale.

ā€œThey analyze past sales records and current trends to see what consumers want. They also order and raise the plants, fertilize and create watering schedules,ā€ she said.

Wesley Rainey of Hattiesburg, a greenhouse student manager majoring in horticulture with a concentration in fruit and vegetable production and food science, said the sale is a group effort.

ā€œWe have a selection of house plants that weā€™ve been working hard to propagate. Club members are very involved with the growing process as they help the greenhouse managers plant, water, seed and propagate. We also tend to the plantā€™s health through regular check-ins and treatments if needed,ā€ he said. Ā

Sale proceeds are used to fund the clubā€™s activities, future plant sales and greenhouse maintenance. The club accepts cash, check and Venmo payment methods.

The club has biweekly meetings, and anyone is welcome to join. If you are interested in joining the Ļć½¶Ö±²„Horticulture Club or want more details on the plant sale, please contact Madelyn Gresham at mfg106@msstate.edu or Horticulture Professor and Club Advisor Richard Harkess at rlh18@msstate.edu for more information.
