Theatre Ļć½¶Ö±²„debuts āStudio Maroonā series with dramatic comedy doubleheader

STARKVILLE, Miss. āTheatre Ļć½¶Ö±²„is debuting a new āStudio Maroonā series Thursday-Saturday [Feb. 14-16] with 7:30 p.m. performances of ā27 Wagons Full of Cottonā and āAuthorās Voiceā in Mississippi Stateās McComas Hall main stage theater.
General admission tickets are $7 and can be purchased in advance at or at the door prior to each performance.Ā
Cody Stockstill, assistant professor and theatre concentration coordinator in the College of Arts and Sciencesā Department of Communication, said Studio Maroon gives students hands-on experience to oversee all aspects of theatre performances, including design, directing and production.
āNot only are our students providing an eveningās entertainment, but also audiences have the chance to see the studentsā work as developing theatre artists,ā Stockstill said.
A classic Tennessee Williams one-act play set in the 1930ās Mississippi Delta, ā27 Wagons Full of Cottonā follows three individuals as they deal with chaos suddenly thrown into their lives. Written in 1946, the play premiered on Broadway in 1955.Ā
Richard Greenbergās āThe Authorās Voiceā is a modern comedy revolving around an up-and-coming author and the gnome he keeps captive to serve as his ghostwriter. Reminiscent of Cyrano de Bergerac, āThe Authorās Voiceā originally was written in 1987.
