STARKVILLE, Miss.—Under the baton of Ï㽶ֱ²¥ Department of Music Head Barry E. Kopetz, the Starkville-Ï㽶ֱ²¥Symphony Orchestra is kicking off its 2018 concert series with a Saturday [Jan. 13] performance on the Starkville campus.

Taking place at 7:30 p.m. in historic Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium, the “Winter Winds†concert is sponsored by the Starkville-Ï㽶ֱ²¥Symphony Association. The evening program features works by three prolific composers from the 18th through 20th centuries—Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Serenade in B flat, K. 361†(Gran Partita); Franz Schubert’s “Little Symphony for Windsâ€; and Richard Strauss’s “Serenade in E flat, Op. 7.â€

“All Starkville-Ï㽶ֱ²¥Symphony Orchestra performances are free and open to the public. We encourage individuals of all ages to come enjoy an evening of beautiful music,†said Ryan Landis, Ï㽶ֱ²¥voice instructor and SSO operations manager.

Founded in 1969, the Starkville-Ï㽶ֱ²¥Symphony Association is a nonprofit volunteer organization in which members work to educate, enlighten and share classical music with communities in the Golden Triangle region.
